Fun with the T-Mobile G1
I recently started messing around with different firmware for my G1, and ended up using the experimental firmware offered up by CyanogenMod. Very cool stuff, and they have an improved recovery image with excellent features like firmware backup, dropping to a shell to run scripts for things like file system checks, file system conversions for the G1 and SDCard, etc.
Everything doesn’t always work perfect in the experimental tree, but the fact that everything is open (and rooted, if you plan on running any non-official firmware) means I now have some very useful applications available to me that normal G1 users can’t even run. This is what I have been waiting for in a cell phone for a LONG time.
Long live Google Android! ;-)
